CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br />MEETING DATE: December 14, 2015 <br />TOPIC: Authorize the Public Safety Department to contract with North <br />Memorial Ambulance for Medical Director <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is registered as a Medical Response Unit with the <br />Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) and is required to get <br />medical control direction from a Medical Director. North Memorial Ambulance provides <br />ambulance services to the City of Lino Lakes and has agreed to provide Medical Director <br />services to the Public Safety Department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />As part of the integration of fire services into the Public Safety Department we have worked <br />closely with the staff from North Memorial on medical response protocols, training matters, <br />and establishing a formal relationship to receive Medical Direction from North Memorial. <br />This contract has been reviewed by City Attorney, Joseph Langel, and he is satisfied the <br />contract in an appropriate form for signature by City staff. <br />North Memorial Ambulance provides all ambulance services in the City of Lino Lakes and as <br />such has agreed to provide Medical Direction to the Public Safety Depaitment at no charge. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that Council authorize this contract. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Contract with North Memorial for Medical Direction <br />
