SECTION 31 23 13 <br />SUBGRADE PREPARATION <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 SUMMARY <br />A. SECTION INCLUDES <br />1. Grading, shaping, and compacting subgrade prior to placing a base or surface <br />course. <br />B. RELATED SECTIONS <br />1. Section 31 23 00 - Excavation and Fill. <br />1.02 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br />A. All Work and costs of this Section shall be incidental to the Project and be included in the <br />Lump Sum Base Bid. <br />1.03 REFERENCES <br />A. Minnesota Department of Transportation "Standard Specifications for Construction," <br />2014 Edition (MnDOT Spec.) <br />1. 2105 - Excavation and Embankment. <br />2. 21 1 1 - Test Rolling. <br />3. 2112 - Subgrade Preparation. <br />1.04 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING <br />A. Subgrade preparation shall be performed prior to placement of the aggregate backfill <br />material if excavation and rough grading of subgrade is not performed under this <br />Contract. <br />B. Subgrade preparation shall be performed on the existing gravel base prior to placement <br />of additional gravel base material. <br />C. Subgrade preparation shall be performed prior to placement of the concrete curb and <br />gutter. <br />D. Complete subgrade for streets, driveways, walks, and parking lots immediately after <br />installation of pipe as part of trench backfill and compaction. <br />E.
