Council Member Elliott introduced the following resolution and
.- moved its adoption:
CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION NO. 92 - 131
A RESOLUTION BY THE LINO LAKES CITY COUNCIL OPPOSING THE PROPOSED
NORTHERN STATES POWER COMPANY (NSP) TRANSMISSION LINE ROUTING
OPTION NO. 13, WHICH INTERSECTS THE SOUTHEAST AREA OF LINO LAKES
WHEREAS,
proposed
WHEREAS,
1.
the Lino Lakes City Council has reviewed and considered
the potential advantages and disadvantages of the
NSP transmission line routing Option #13, which
intersects the southeast area of Lino Lakes;
upon City Council review the proposed NSP transmission
line routing Option #13, the City Council of Lino Lakes
is not in support of Option No. 13, and states the
following findings:
The route for Option #13 is indirect connection between
Goose Lake substation and Hugo substation, and thus would
increase project costs.
2. The route would require a right-of-way/easement
acquisition as the federal government does not allow
electric transmission lines within the I-35 corridor.
3. The line would not be centrally located in relation to
its service area, as it would border an Anoka Electric
Service district to the west.
4. The NSP line would lie parallel to an Anoka Electric
line. Thus some inefficiencies exist in the duplication
of power poles.
5. The NSP line would overlay existing wetland and
environmentally sensitive areas.
WHEREAS; the Council recognizes the impacts of the proposed NSP
transmission line routing Option #13,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lino Lakes City Council, upon
review of the proposed NSP power transmission line routing Option
#13, formally opposes the selection of this Option #13.
Adopted this 26th day of October, 1992.
Vernon F. Reinert, Mayor
