Council Member Kuether introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96 - 36 <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 20, 1996 EARTH DAY AND TO <br />SUPPORT THOSE ORGANIZERS AND VOLUNTEERS IN THE EFFORTS TO <br />CLEAN UP AND BEAUTIFY AREAS IN THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, CIRCLE <br />PINES, LEXINGTON AND CENTERVILLE <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County, the Cities of Lino Lakes, Circle Pines, Centerville and <br />Lexington pride themselves on the quality of life for residents and businesses and is <br />interested in working to improve and maintain the beauty of the areas; and, <br />WHEREAS, residents should be encouraged to recognize the environmental impact on <br />our communities in their daily lives by becoming environmentally responsible <br />consumers, conserving energy, increasing recycling efforts, reducing waste, and <br />promoting environmental responsibility in our communities; and, <br />WHEREAS, this goal was aided by volunteers of the cities who during Earth Days in <br />past years have collected tons of debris in Lino Lakes, Circle Pines, Lexington and <br />Centerville; planted flower beds, initiated other spruce up activities in parks and on trails; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, these efforts show the long term commitment by individuals and groups in <br />Anoka County to building a safe, just and substantial planet; and, <br />WHEREAS, groups of community leaders will work in conjunction with Anoka County <br />Commissioner Margaret Langfeld's Adopt -A -Highway project to organize a clean-up and <br />beautification project along roads in Eastern Anoka County; and, <br />WHEREAS, this community group needs support and volunteers to successfully <br />complete its project; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, John Landers, Mayor of the City of <br />Lino Lakes, do hereby proclaim April 20, 1996 to be Earth Day and support those <br />organizers and volunteers in its efforts to clean up and beautify areas in the cities of Lino <br />Lakes, Circle Pines, Lexington and Centerville. <br />Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council the 25th day of March, 1996. <br />
