Eisenschenk
Staff Attorney
League of Minnesota Cities
145 University Ave. West
St. Paul, MN 55103
Dear Ms. Eisenshenk,
On January 14, 2016, the Lino Lakes Charter Commission formally agreed to work with the
League of Minnesota Cities for a Charter amendment to establish council election wards in the
City. We are requesting that you represent us and work under the direction of the Commission to
accomplish this. This amendment is to be submitted to the voters of the City in the upcoming
November election.
The Charter Commission already has a draft amendment proposal to build upon. Commissioners
request that you review the draft and re -word as needed for legality, maintaining as closely as
possible the provisions therein with respect to applicable law. If applicable law requires that a
provision in the draft be substantively altered, you should demonstrate why and how that is the
case and suggest alternative(s) to the Commission.
Research Manager Jeanette Behr, J.D. informs that "the Charter Assistance Program requires is
agreement on the work to be done by the council and the commission and a signed contract.
Amber will provide information on that as you explore the possibility of assistance." I look
forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Caroline Dahl,
Chair, Lino Lakes Charter Commission
