CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 2A(ii) <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Sarah Cotton <br />MEETING DATE: December 14, 2015 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 15-142, Adopting the Final 2016 General <br />Fund Operating Budget <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Minnesota State Statutes require the City of Lino Lakes to adopt and certify a final 2015 tax levy, <br />collectible in 2016 on or before December 28th. <br />A public hearing was held tonight to take public comment on the budget. A summary of the <br />proposed budget and tax levy was presented and discussed during the public hearing. <br />The fmal 2016 budget represents a 0.77% increase from the 2015 adopted budget. The budget <br />includes resources for on-going city operations, capital outlay and equipment replacement, and <br />the addition of two staff positions (1 patrol officer and 1 inspector). A contingency for unforeseen <br />circumstances is also included in the budget. Accumulated General Fund Reserves, a transfer from <br />the Office Equipment Revolving Fund, and the use Closed Bond Fund proceeds are being used to <br />balance the budget. <br />The City Council needs to take fmal action to approve the budget at this time. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the approval of Resolution No. 15-142. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution No. 15-142, Adopting the Final 2016 General Fund Operating Budget <br />
