Painting, Inc. with a total base bid amount of $926,250. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: 1. The bid for the Water Tower #1 Reconditioning Project be awarded to M.K. Painting, Inc. with a total base bid amount of $926,250. The bid opening was conducted on Feb 3, 2016 at City Hall. Three bids were received: Contractor's Name M.K. Painting, Inc. TMI Coatings, Inc. Classic Protective Coatings Inc. Total Base Bid $ 926,250 $ 936,625 $1,297,950 Deduct #1* $2,000 $9,000 $0 *For single color logo The bid forms of each bidder were reviewed for conformance and accuracy and were found to be in order with the exception of one mathematical error by TMI Coatings, Inc. The low bidder was M.K. Painting, Inc. with a total base bid amount of $926,250 (Engineer's estimate was $1,000,000). We recommend to not accept Alternate #1, thereby resulting in the painting of two colored City logos on opposing sides of the tank. KLM Engineering has worked with M.K. Painting, Inc. on 6-8 projects over the past several years, and we are confident they will perform satisfactorily. Funding for this project is from the Water Operating Fund. Transmitted herewith is a copy of the Bid Tabulation for your information and file. Copies will also be distributed to each Bidder once the Project has been awarded. There were a total of 3 Bids. The Bid Forms of each Bidder were reviewed for conformance and accuracy and were found to be in order with the exception of one mathematical error. This error occurred on Item No. 6 of the Bid Form submitted by TMI. This error has been corrected in conformance with the Contract Documents as shown on the attached Bid Tabulation An Alternate Bid Item {No. 1 and tabulated below) was included on the Bid Form. This deductive alternate was offered to determine a potential cost savings for painting the City logo on the tank in only one color as opposed to the City's standard multi -color logo. KLM Engineering has worked with M.K. painting on 6 to 8 projects over the past several years. In their experience, M.K. painting is qualified and is competent to do the work contained in the Project Manual. Painting, Inc. should be awarded the Project on the Total Base Bid Amount of $926,250.00. Furthermore, we do not recommend accepting Altemate No. 1, for a deduct of $2,000, thereby resulting in the painting of two colored City logo's on opposing sides of the tank.
