HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-015 Council ResolutionCITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 16-15 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION OF PERMANENT EASEMENTS, WELL NO. 6 PUMP HOUSE IMPROVEMENTS WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 16-15 adopted the 26th day of October, 2015 the City Council ordered the Well No. 6 Pump House Improvements; and WHEREAS, the construction of the project will require the acquisition of a drainage and utility easement; and WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes, a Minnesota municipal corporation, acting by and through the City Council, is authorized by law to acquire real estate which is needed for public use or purpose; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: That staff is hereby authorized to negotiate acquisition of a permanent easement by direct purchase in accordance with Exhibit A. Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 14th day of March, 2016. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member Kinctprman and was duly seconded by Council Member Manthey and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Kusterman, Manthey, Maher, Rafferty, Reinert The following voted against same: none ATTEST: Jeff Rei a ayor Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 6A STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala MEETING DATE: March 14, 2016 TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 16-15, Authorizing Acquisition of Permanent Easement, Well No. 6 Pump House Improvements VO 1'h REQUIRED: 3/5 INTRODUCTION Staff is requesting council action to authorize acquisition of easements for utility purposes to service the Well No. 6 Pump House. BACKGROUND The City Council took action on October 26, 2015 to order the Well No. 6 Pump House improvements. As part of the project three-phase electrical service will be extended from Birch Street to service the pump house. To avoid yard/driveway along Pheasant Run South staff is proposing to acquire a drainage and utility easement through an existing agricultural area to the east. This utility corridor would also serve a future need to extend a trunk water main from Birch Street to the new well. The proposed land area and acquisition amount are as follows: Easement Type Size (Sq. Ft.) Amount Permanent 24,991 $11,800.00 WSB and Associates have prepared the appraisal report and will work through the acquisition process with the property owner on behalf of the City. A fmal agreement with the property owner will be brought back to the council for approval. RECOMMENDATION Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 16-15. ATTACHMENTS 1.
