24 Oath of Public Safety Service —Public Safety Director Swenson introduced Lino Lakes Fire Division
25 Members Paul Gartman, Wes Tholl, Jay Kurtz, Derek Wiley, Kent Alley and Mark Hokanen. Mayor
26 Reinert administered the Oath to the new members.

66 4A) Consider Promotion of Police Officer Sergeant — Public Safety Director Swenson explained
67 that he is seeking council approval of his recommendation to promote Officer Melissa Hagert to the
68 position of Police Sergeant within the Lino Lakes Police Department. The recommendation comes
69 forward through an internal process. The position is included in the approved 2017 budget.

71 Council Member Manthey moved to approve the promotion of Officer Hagert as recommended.
72 Council Member Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion adopted on a voice vote. Director
73 Swenson added that Sergeant Hagert will be attending a future council meeting so that the council
74 may recognize the promotion.

76 413) Consider Hiring of Police Officer — Public Safety Director Swenson explained that staff is
77 seeking authorization to hire one police officer to fill the position vacated by the promotion of
78 Melissa Hagert. He reviewed the application and review process used to bring forward the
79 department recommendation. He recommends the hiring of Connor Williams, effective February 13,

82 Council Member moved to approve the hiring of Connor Williams as recommended. Council
83 Member Maher seconded the motion. Motion carried on a voice vote.

101 16TH ANNUAL SNOW DAY - This is a FREE event that will be held on Saturday, January 30 at
102 Wargo Nature Center from 1:00 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. Ice Fishing, cross country skiing, kicksledding,
103 snowshoeing, etc. For more information contact the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department.
104 SWEETHEART PARTY will be held at Centennial Elementary School on Friday, February 5th from
105 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The fee is $10.00 per child. There will be music, crafts, refreshments, etc.
106 Pre -registration is required. For more information contact the Lino Lakes Parks and Rec. Department.
