RESOLUTION NO. 17-05
RESOLUTION APPROVING LOCATION OF
LINO LAKES VETERANS MEMORIAL
WHEREAS, a Veterans Memorial is being proposed in Lino Lakes to honor all those who have
served or are serving our country in the military; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and Officers of American Legion Post 566 are committed to
constructing a Veterans Memorial in Lino Lakes; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion expressed that its preferred location is the island in front of
City Hall.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes does
hereby support the construction of a Veterans Memorial on the island in front of City Hall, and
wishes to engage an architect to design the memorial for this location.
Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 9th day of January 2017.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member
Kusterman and was duly seconded by Council Member Rafferty and upon
vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Kusterman, Rafferty, Reinert
The following voted against same:
Maher, Manthey

INTRODUCTION
The City Council is being asked to adopt Resolution No. 17-05, approving the location of a
Veterans Memorial.
BACKGROUND
After much discussion about where the best location would be for a Veterans Memorial, the
City Council and officers of the American Legion agree that the most preferred site is the island
in front of city hall.
During the January 3rd work session, the Council directed me to draft a resolution that affirms
the city hall location as the preferred option.
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt Resolution No. 17-05, approving the placement of the Veterans Memorial in front of city
hall.
