HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-057 Council ResolutionCITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 17-57 APPROVING PURCHASE OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR NORTHPOINTE PARK WHEREAS, the project scope included the design of the playground equipment within the footprint container area with a specified budget of $75,000. The total cost includes the playground components, engineered wood fiber surfacing, geotextile fabric, additional necessary resilient surfacing systems such as wear mats for swing/slide areas, certified playground installer (installation to be completed by volunteers and City staff), an audit conducted by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector for compliance, warranties, delivery, and taxes. All equipment must meet all applicable ASTM, CPSC and ADA standards for safety and accessibility; and WHEREAS, six vendors were sent an RFP for the NorthPointe Park Playground Equipment Project; and WHEREAS, the playground equipment proposals were on display June 12 and June 15 for review. NorthPointe residents, Park Board Members, and the City Council were invited to review the proposals, make comments, and provide input on the selection of the project; and WHEREAS, in evaluating the proposals, staff also considered factors such as the quality of the overall design (i.e. use of the space, size of structures, aesthetic appeal, capacity, number of play elements, age-appropriate activities), equipment quality (materials used, sizes/thicknesses of pipes), ease of maintenance, installation experience, and the play experience provided; and WHEREAS, staff met with interested residents to make final decisions such as color selection. WHEREAS, funding for this playground equipment project will be from the Dedicated Parks Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by The City Council of The City of Lino Lakes that the City hereby awards the NorthPointe Park Playground Equipment Project to Northland Recreation, LLC in the amount of $75,000. The playground equipment proposals were on display at Lino Lakes Fire Station #2 on June 12 and June 15 for review. It is anticipated to install the playground equipment on Saturday, September 16th with residents, a certified playground installer, and park maintenance staff. It is staff's recommendation to award the NorthPointe Park Playground Project to Northland Recreation, LLC. Funding for this playground equipment project will be from the Dedicated Parks Fund. RECOMMENDATION Award NorthPointe Park Playground Equipment Project to Northland Recreation, LLC in the amount of $75,000.
