MEMBERS PRESENT : Steve Heiskary (chair), Paula Andrzejewski, Liz Kaufenberg, Shawn Holmes, Nancy Klebba, John Sullivan MEMBERS ABSENT : Alex Schwartz STAFF PRESENT : Marty Asleson, Sayard Schultz I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL: Chair Heiskary called the Lino Lakes Environmental Board meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. on March 28, 2018. II. APROVAL OF AGENDA Mr. Asleson ADDED — under Discussion Items D. Environmental Goals 2018 E. Wollan Park Update Ms. Andrzejewski made a MOTION to approve the Agenda with the added discussion items. Ms. Kaufenberg seconded the motion. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mr. Sullivan made a MOTION to approve the February 28, 2018 Meeting Minutes. Ms. Andrzejewski supported motion. Motion carried 6 - 0. IV. OPEN MIKE Mr. Heiskary declared Open Mike at 6:34 p.m. Open Mike closed at 6:35p.m. APPROVED MINUTES Enivonmental Board March 28, 2018 Page 2 V. ACTION ITEMS — No Action Items VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Recycling Updates Ms. Schultz mentioned that March Saturday Recycling Day — paper shredding was overwhelming. The vendor will do an update to his shredder to keep up with the demand. Simple Recycling start date is set for July 12, 2018. They will take small household goods and clothing of any kind. 2018 Score Report has not yet arrived from Anoka Country # Ms. Schultz shared pictures of the canvas bags and T-shirts that will be given out to volunteers Ms. Schultz mentioned the signs that will be displayed at the Organics drop off bins. Ms. Kaufenberg asked what the size of the signs would be and also suggested that the word organics be outline to be a little bolder. Ms. Schultz replied that the signs will be 2ft x 4ft and she will look into making the word organics bolder. B. Earth Day The board went through the Powerpoint presentation and made a few changes Mr. Heiskary would like to have a EAB informational poster and a invasion map displayed. Mr. Asleson will look for a picture of the final product of the seed mixture that will be in the seed ball. Ms. Kaufenberg would like to see a sign up for Organics and Walters organic recycling program Ms. Andrzej ewski suggusted have a orgaincs recycling bin for the paper towels after people make seed balls C. EAB Update Mr. Asleson stated that the city is more wide spread than first thought. In the next APPROVED MINUTES Enivonmental Board March 28, 2018 Page 3 3-4 years we will see the big trees go. The drop site for home owners to bring their trees is behind the Public Works building at 1189 Main St. D. Environmental Board Goals 2018 Update Mr. Asleson mentioned that the Enivornmental Board Goals will be presented at the April 2 Council work session. Ms. Kaufenberg and Ms. Andrzejewski will be there to present the goals to the Council. They will present a updated EAB map, Simple Recyling and Organics. E. Wollan Park Updates Mr. Asleson is hopeful the burn piles will be taken care of and he also mentioned that the Park is in need of a sign. Mr. Heiskary thought that maybe a student in the high school would be able to make one with the laser machine. Mr. Asleson will look into this idea. VII. ADJOURNMENT Ms. Andrzejewski made a MOTION to adjourn the meeting at 8:40 p.m. Motion was supported by Ms. Kaufenberg. Motion carried 6 - 0.
