CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 18-42 <br />APPROVING CONTRACT WITH NORTHLAND RECREATION INC. FOR <br />BIRCH PARK PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT <br />WHEREAS, The playground equipment at Birch Park was installed in 1998 and is need of <br />replacement; and <br />WHEREAS, The Park Board and staff are recommending the Birch Park playground <br />equipment be replaced; and <br />WHEREAS, The National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) is a public corporation serving as a <br />municipal contracting agency for government and education agencies. The NJPA serves <br />member agencies under the legislative authority established and granted by Minnesota Statute <br />123A.21. This fulfills the competitive solicitation and contract process required of <br />governmental agencies; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff is recommending entering into a contract with Northland Recreation, Inc. in <br />the amount of $60,000 to provide the design and equipment for the Birch Park Playground <br />Project via the NJPA. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: <br />1. That staff is authorized to enter into a contract with Northland Recreation, Inc. in the <br />amount of $60,000 to provide the design and equipment for the Birch Park Playground <br />Project via the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA). <br />2. Funding is from the Dedicated Parks Fund. The City collected $62,064 from the Saddle <br />Club development that was designated for improvements at Birch Park. <br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 9th day of April, 2018. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member <br />Rafferty and was duly seconded by Council Member Stoesz and upon vote <br />being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />Rafferty, Stoesz, Maher, Reinert <br />The following voted against same <br />None (absent - Manthey) <br />
