HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-036 Council ResolutionCITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 19-36 AWARD CONTRACTS FOR ARENA ACRES PARK PROJECT WHEREAS, the City Council authorized staff to proceed with the construction of a tennis court at Arena Acres Park during the October 1, 2018 City Council work session; and WHEREAS, this project is divided into two parts — Site Improvements (earthwork, aggregate, court and trail paving, court painting/striping), and Fencing; and WHEREAS, quotes were received on March 12, 2019 as follows: SITE IMPROVEMENTS FENCING CONTRACTOR TOTAL BID CONTRACTOR TOTAL BID Midwest Asphalt $70,487.10 Century Fence $16,174.80 Bituminous Roadways $71,276.90 Peterson Companies $16,920.00 Barber Construction $85,569.00 Midwest Fence $17,586.00 New Look Contracting $91,850.01 WHEREAS, the low site improvements bid was submitted by Midwest Asphalt in the amount of $70,487.10, and the low fencing bid was submitted by Century Fence in the amount of $16,174.80; and WHEREAS, funding is from the Park and Trail Improvement Fund. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the City Council hereby authorizes staff to enter into contracts with Midwest Asphalt and Century Fence for the Arena Acres Park Project. Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 25th day of March, 2019. BACKGROUND The City Council authorized staff to proceed with the construction of a tennis court at Arena Acres Park during the October 1, 2018 City Council work session. The paved trail has been included to provide accessibility from Andall Street to the tennis court, playground area, and basketball court. This project is divided into two parts — Site Improvements (earthwork, aggregate, court and trail paving, court painting/striping), and Fencing. Quotes were received for the above -referenced parts on March 12, 2019. The quotes were checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. A total of four bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy and confirmed that Midwest Asphalt, Eden Prairie, MN submitted the lowest quote in the amount of $70,487.10. Below is a table of the quote results for reference. Midwest Asphalt Services (Low Bid) Bituminous Roadways New Look Contracting Barber Construction $70,487.10 $71,276.90 $91,850.01 $85,569.00 The Engineer's Estimate was $52,978.00. The earthwork, aggregate, and paving item quotes were higher than anticipated, which is likely due to the smaller quantities / scale of the work with respect to costs of mobilizing equipment and crews.
