MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1997

1 . Call to Order and Roll Call 6 :30pm
(Everyone was present except Betty Piper. Also in
attendance was Barry Bernstein and Sandie Wood)
2 . Approval of Minutes 7/7/97 and 8/4/97 6 :35pm
(Both sets of minutes were approved as written)
3 . Open Mike 6 :40pm
(No one present)
4 . Trails - Update 6 :45pm
a. Clearwater Creek trail (Barry will have an update, from
Marty Asleson, for the next Park Board meeting)
b. 1996/1997 Trail Paving (There was discussion about the
trails scheduled to be paved this fall. No action taken)
5 . Anoka Electric Easement - Update 7 : 15pm
(AEC will start obtaining permits. Staff will negotiate a
fair trade)
6 . Park Dedication Fees - Update 7 :25pm
(After lengthy discussion it was decided the new director
will research commercial and park dedication and respond to
the board in the future)
7 . Parks - Update 7 :35pm
a. Sunrise Park (Barry presented the three projects that
will be done in Sunrise with Tiff money. The project
includes installation of a new backstop, hockey rink
restoration, and new playground equipment)
b. Rice Lake Estate Park (Marty Asleson is working on this
project and updates will be brought to the Park Board)
8 . YMCA - Update 7 :50pm
(Barry explained what he has learned at the last two
meetings and will keep the board informed of the status of
this project)
9 . Friends of the Park - Update 8 : 00pm
(Golf event and tree sale was discussed at their last
meeting and approximately $5000 was raised from these two
events. Barry said the committee is looking for new
members)
10 . Recreation - Update 8 : 10pm
(The interview process for the new Park and Recreation
Director has been completed and hopefully the new director
will start the latter part of October or first part of
November)
11. Other Old Business 8 :20pm
a. Highland Meadows - Update (Motion was made to
accept the revised plan with the developer securing use of
easement, for trail purposes, under the power line. The
trail will run east/west through the development.
Miller South Glen was added to the agenda and Chair Lindy
stated the city has received park dedication for this
project and the Park Board is responsible for the
development of the park. The master plan for this part of
the park has been completed)
12 . New Business 8 :30pm
a. Community Ed Program Annual Contribution (Barry said
because of budget cuts the City of Lino Lakes will not
receive $2000 from the school district and our programs will
no longer be advertised in the Observer. We will have to be
more pro-active in marketing our programs)
13 . Schedule Meeting - Successful Referendums 8 :40pm
Jeff Schoenbauer, John Gurban, and Others
(Board picked several dates and asked staff to contact Jeff
Schoenbauer to set up a meeting and schedule room)
14 . Schedule Goal Setting Meeting - November 8 :50pm
(Board requested staff to schedule meeting on one of the
other dates they selected)
15 . Schedule Next Park Board Meeting 8 :55pm
(Next meeting will be November 3, 1997, 6 :30pm, at City
Hall)
16 . Adjourn 9 :00pm
(Meeting was adjourned at 9:13pm)
