Also utility workers are driving their cars through the
park. Staff was directed to send out a memo to stop this .
The current balance of the dedicated park fund is $197 , 000 . 00
with funds yet to be collected from three future
subdivisions.
After considerable discussion a motion was made.
MOTION:
John Bauman moved to recommend to City Council an additional
hockey rink to be installed in Sunrise Park with adequate
lighting and a pleasure rink installed next to the hockey
rink . The estimated cost for this is $35 , 000. 00 . George
Lindy seconded the motion, and the motion was approved
unanimously.
MOTION:
Fay Johnson moved to recommend to City Council approval to
purchase two sets of aluminum bleachers . The estimated cost
for this is $7, 000. 00. John Bauman seconded the motion, and
the motion was approved unanimously.
Old Business
Ray Johnson asked Mr. Uhde about the trail system in Reshanau
Lake Estates South. Gary Uhde stated that the trail system
is going out for bids this week. He needed to clarify with
city staff the alignment of the trails. There are four
trails planned for this development . Park Board will review
the trails before construction is started. The park board
felt that more grading should be completed to raise the
height of the trails. Gary Uhde suggested keeping it low,
but installing culverts below the trails. He proposes to
have the trails completed by the end of July.
Rice Lake Estates Park Update/Tim Keenan
Tim Keenan asked the park board to move the dedicated park
land from Lots 1 and 2 of Block 2 to Lot 8, Block 2, closer
to Blue Heron Drive. This would put the park location south
of the present site, on the corner of Blue Heron Drive and
Sandpiper Drive.
Ray Johnson stated that the park board' s concern was that the
developer is already advertising that tennis courts are on
the site. He stated that residents moving in are wanting to
see those tennis courts, and Ray asked that he withdraw
that from his advertising.

Tim Keenan stated that most lots in this plat are contract

for deed. He is closing on three lots soon and then the city
will have clear title to the land.
Harold Bisel stated that he wants the Developer' s Agreement
to state that once 50% of the homes are built , then the park
should be completed.
Rich Gray is working on the specifications of the park.
Laura Elken will contact him so that he is prepared to
address this issue at the August Park Board meeting.
A copy of the spec' s will be sent to the park board members
as soon as possible so the park board has time to review this
before the August meeting.
Erickson' s Land Update
Grading has begun at Erickson' s park.
It was decided by City Council that if the developer did not
complete their work by the end of August building permits
will be held.
A skating rink will be installed this year if feasible.
New Business
Park Development Committee/Anoka County Parks
The Park Board members received a letter from Laura Elken
stating that the meeting date is set for July 20th.
The City of Lino Lakes is the host for the first meeting.
The meeting will be held at Mar-Dee' s Restaurant.
Ray Johnson feels that Lino Lakes should have more than one
representative on this committee.
Some of the issues the board felt should be discussed is
utilizing the county trail system with the City of Lino
Lake' s trail system, and discussing with the county the
possibility of having some playing fields in the county
parks.
Park Board will be given a copy of the minutes to this first
meeting.
South Side Community Park/Land Purchase
MOTION: Ray Johnson moved to recommend to City Council to
look into the purchasing of the South Side Community Park
property. The Park Board is willing to use their dedicated
�,\ park land monies towards the purchase of the property.

It is the park board' s intent to use this land for the
development of the Southside Community Park. John Bauman
seconded the motion , and the motion was approved unanimously.
Gethsemand Methodist Church
Gethsemane Methodist Church is planning on purchasing some
land and building a new church. This has not gone before
Park Board.
The Park Board asks that John Miller, City Planner look into
this , and inform the park board as to what kind of park
dedication they can claim to this property.
Don Volk has interviewed people for positions of Park
Superintendent , and Public Works Foreman, second interviews
may be possible. Mr. Volk stated that hopefully a decision
will be made by the next council meeting.
Ray Johnson adjourned the meeting at 9: 33 p.m.
