HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-138 Council Resolution CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 21-138 AFFIRMING THE OPENING OF THE LINO LAKES ACTIVITY CENTER WITH A TARGET DATE OF APRIL 1,2022 WHEREAS, in July of 2020,the City was notified the YMCA would not be reopening the Lino Lakes Facility. In November of 2020,the City retained Isaac Sports Group (ISG)to evaluate potential facility operating options. In accordance with the development agreement between the YMCA and the City,the YMCA transferred their property and building to the City on March 1, 2021; and WHEREAS,the City Council accepted the Recreation and Aquatic Center Feasibility Study, prepared by ISG, on June 28, 2021. The report examines programming options,three potential management models, and multiple fee structures. Financial operating budgets and projections were developed to evaluate the different options. The report also includes considerations for long term development and expansion, along with a project timeline and next steps. Keys to success are also included as a resource to identify key operating best practices and needs necessary to make the facility a success; and WHEREAS, The City Council accepted the ISG Scope of Services Proposal during the August 23, 2021 City Council meeting to develop potential fitness and aquatic partnerships, and provide management support and development; and WHEREAS, On September 13, 2021,the Council approved a contract with GameDay Sports for brand development and marketing plan development as well as an architectural services agreement with DSGW Architecture; and WHEREAS, the City Council received overwhelming positive responses from area residents and businesses; and WHEREAS,the City Council has determined operating a community activity center is beneficial to Lino Lakes residents and businesses. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes hereby affirms the opening of the Lino Lakes Activity Center with a target date of April 1, 2022. Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 8th day of November, 2021.
