PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT A) Consider Resolution 21-151, Construction Management Services Agreement with Flannery Construction for The Rookery Activity Center Improvements, Rick DeGardner B) Consider Approval of Expenditures for The Rookery Activity Center, Rick DeGardner UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS None Adjournment The regularly scheduled Council Work Session will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 1B STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director MEETING DATE: December 6, 2021 TOPIC: Consider Approval of Rookery Activity Center Expenditures VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 BACKGROUND Staff is recommending approval of the following expenditures for the Rookery Activity Center: 1. Run fiber from Civic Complex to Rookery - Recommend awarding bid to Cornerstone Utility Construction with an estimated cost of $45,650.00. Suggest the City budget a 5% project contingency in case any unforeseen circumstances arise, resulting in a total project cost of $51,650.00 2. Run fiber from the back DMARC/HVAC room to the network closet - Recommend awarding bid to All State Communications with an estimated cost of $2,853.00. 3. Install carpet and tile flooring upstairs - Recommend awarding bid to Hauglies Inc. for the installation of 3,680 square feet of Bentley 18’ x 36’ carpet tile and 2,400 square feet of 8mm thick rubber flooring. Project cost includes removal and disposal of existing carpet, rubber flooring, and adhesive, feathering of cracks in the floor if needed, installation of tile and carpet base, and installation of carpet bullnose at top of the stairs. Total project cost not to exceed $38,000. 4. Industrial washer and dryer - Recommend purchasing a 30lb capacity washer and 50lb capacity dryer for an amount not to exceed $16,286. Includes washer, dryer, steel base, delivery, installation, and freight. 5. Amend lockers contract - The City Council approved the lockers bid during the November 22, 2021 City Council meeting at a cost not to exceed $96,500. Staff is requesting council consideration to amend the lockers bid to include sloped tops for all lockers in the men’s and women’s locker rooms at an additional cost of $18,500. 6. Edina Painting - Recommending working with the Edina Painting Company to prepare and apply two coats of paint for the entire upper level of the activity center including the Studio. Quote is for $3,750. City provides the paint. 7. Pool Equipment - Recommend purchasing up to $16,000 in pool equipment from Recreation Supply Company.
