ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT A) Consider Appointment of Aquatics Supervisor, Meg Sawyer B) Consider Appointment of Building Inspector, Meg Sawyer UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS None Adjournment Upon adjournment of the Special Council meeting, the council will convene to the regular work session in the Community Room CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 1A STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager MEETING DATE: March 7, 2022 TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Aquatics Supervisor VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 INTRODUCTION The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Madeline Rosewood to the newly created Aquatics Supervisor position at the Rookery Activity Center. BACKGROUND At this time staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer contingent upon a complete background check, and is recommending the approval of Madeline Rosewood for the position. Rosewood holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of California. Rosewood has over 12 years of aquatics leadership experience and has been the Aquatics Coordinator at the City of Inver Grove Heights since 2019. The hourly rate of pay would be $38.68, which is step 5 of the current 6 step wage schedule. With the Council’s approval, Rosewood would start in the position of Aquatics Supervisor on March 22, 2022. RECOMMENDATION Please approve the appointment of Madeline Rosewood for the Aquatics Supervisor position. CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 1B STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager MEETING DATE: March 7, 2022 TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Building Inspector VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 INTRODUCTION The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Joel McPherson to the vacant Building Inspector position in the Community Development department. BACKGROUND At this time staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer contingent upon a complete background check, and is recommending the approval of Joel McPherson for the position. McPherson has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg College. McPherson has over 20 years of building inspecting experience and has been the Building Inspector at the City of Brooklyn Center since 2013. The hourly rate of pay would be $39.73, which is step 6 of the current 6 step wage schedule. With the Council’s approval, McPherson would start in the position of Building Inspector on March 28, 2022. RECOMMENDATION Please approve the appointment of Joel McPherson for the Building Inspector position.
