Re: Update on preparation of 5 -year plan

Directors have been assembling their projections for staff and capital needs and other
major impacts on the budget over the coming five years. This information will be used in
completing the 5 -year public service program and updating the Capital Improvement
Program. Once this data is compiled the preparation of the plan should progress on
schedule.
Staff's goal is to have the 5 -year plan completed and adopted the April 8 meeting. This is
slightly different than the second meeting in March as reported at the last work session.
However, it allows staff time to complete preparations and field work on the annual audit,
scheduled for the week of March 18, and will give staff more time to assemble the 5 -year
document. Council will have the opportunity to review the plan at a work session prior
to the April 8 meeting. The plan will be completed prior to the joint City Council —
Charter Commission meeting scheduled for April 11.
