Re: Blue Heron Days Update
In reviewing our checklist of items which need Council action prior to the upcoming
"Blue Heron Days" festival, the parade permit application and the 5K run permit
application are on Monday night's Council agenda.
You will notice that there is an event in conjunction with the parade, the "Chili Dog
Mile" which has a separate entry form. This does not require any additional road
closings so, it is being incorporated into the parade request, as it goes along the same
route.
As recent handouts provided to the Council indicate, the festival is taking shape and a
draft schedule of events has been completed. I Would like Council direction as to
addressing requests for non -food vending items through a City- issued permit process.

DATE: July 6, 2004
TO: Mayor and City Council Members

RE: Pine Street Improvements Petition
The City has received a petition from residents and property owners on Pine
Street to pave Pine Street from Lake Drive to 4th Street. Pine Street is currently
a gravel road that is shared between Columbus Township and Lino Lakes. The
Town Engineer for Columbus Township produced a preliminary estimate for a
24 -foot rural street with 3 inches of bituminous. The total project cost estimate
from Lake Drive to the west end of Pine Street was $471,300.00.
A joint neighborhood meeting was held on June 29, 2004. A final consensus
was not reached at that time. A letter will be sent out detailing the project
scope and cost to the residents. The letter will request a response from them
to help in the decision of continuing the process for paving the road.
