HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-050 Council ResolutionCouncil Member 1 +7_ introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 09-50 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING REQUEST FOR QUOTES- 2009 SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT PROJECT. WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared plans and specifications for the 2009 Surface Water Management Project, and has presented such plans and specifications to the Council for approval; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: The City Engineer will send out a request for quotes. The quotes will be received by the Clerk until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009, at which time they will be publicly opened in the City Hall by the City Clerk and Engineer, will then be tabulated, and will be considered by the Council at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Any bidder whose responsibility is questioned during consideration of the bid will be given an opportunity to address the Council on the issue of responsibility. Studenski, City Engineer July 27, 2009 Resolution No. 09 -50, Accepting Plans and Specifications and Authorizing a Request for Quotes, 2009 Surface Water Management Project. Simple Majority After storm sewer, storm water ponds and drainage ways are constructed, they require periodic maintenance to ensure their effectiveness. To maintain the effectiveness of the storm sewer system, cleaning of pipe sections, catch basins, manholes and flared ends where silt has accumulated must be completed. The City conducted its yearly review of 20% of the City's MS4 outfalls, sediment basins, storm sewers, and ponds to comply with NPDES requirements. The 2009 Surface Water Management project consists of ditch and pipe repairs, pipe extensions and the cleaning of pipe sections, catch basins, manholes and flared ends. The projects were identified by this years NPDES review of storm sewers, public works identified projects, and through resident concerns as shown on the attached map. The project schedule is as follows: City Council Accepts Plans and Specifications July 27, 2009 City Council Request for Quotes July 27, 2009 City Council Awards Contract August 24, 2009 Construction Begins September, 2009 City staff has prepared the plans and specifications for this work and is requesting Council approval to make a request for quotes.
