CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION NO. 10 -28
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT, 2010 STREET SEALCOAT PROJECT
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of 2010 Street Sealcoat
Project, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were
received complying with the advertisement:

Pearson Bros., Inc. $ 129,970.00
Astech Asphalt Surface $ 137,285.00
Allied Blacktop Company $ 144,650.00
Precision Sealcoating, Inc. Incomplete
Engineer's Estimate $ 139,125.00
• AND WHEREAS, it appears that Pearson Bros., Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO
LAKES, MINNESOTA:
1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Pearson
Bros., Inc., in the name of the City of Lino Lakes for the construction of the 2010 Street
Sealcoat Project according to the plans and specifications approved by the City Council and
on file in the office of the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the Bid
Bonds made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bi der and the next two
lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has b

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member
@a 11 up and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:

TOPIC: Resolution No. 10 -28, Accepting Bids and
Awarding a Construction Contract,
2010 Street Sealcoat Project
Vote Required: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND:
Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 11:00 a.m. on March 31, 2010. The
results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award a
construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder.

Astech Asphalt Surface $ 137,285.00
Allied Blacktop Company $ 144,650.00
Precision Sealcoating, Inc. Incomplete
Engineer's Estimate $ 139,125.00
The low bids are competitive bids for this project. The bid from Precision Sealcoating,
Inc. as shown on the attached tabulation of bids was not considered because the bid was
incomlete. The final completion date for this project is September 15, 2010.
A summary of the Lino Lakes Pavement Management System will be presented at the
May 5t' Council Work Session.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Resolution No. 10 — 28 Accepting Bids and Awarding a
Construction Contract, 2010 Street Sealcoat Project to be adopted.
