HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008-064 Council Resolution• Council MemberD°nnellintroduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES COUNTY OF ANOKA RESOLUTION NO. 08-64 APPROVING RENEWAL OF A LAWFUL GAMBLING PREMISES PERMIT FOR THE LINO LAKES LIONS CLUB WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes City Council met at its regularly scheduled meeting of June 23, 2008; and WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes City Council has received a request from the Lino Lake Lions to approve renewal of their lawful gambling premises permit to conduct gambling at American Legion Post #566 at 7731 Lake Drive; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Gambling Control Board requires the Lino Lakes Lions Club to submit a resolution from the City Council approving the premises permit application; and WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes has conducted the required background • investigation; and WHEREAS, the Lino Lake Lions Club is in compliance with the City Code; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: That the City Council hereby approves the renewal of a premises permit for the Lion Lake Lions Club to conduct lawful gambling at American Legion Post #566 at 7731 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes, Minnesota. Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 23rd day of June 2008. Berg -ion, Mayor The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member Reinert and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: O'Donnell, Reinert, Gallup, Bergeson The following voted against same: none (absent - Stoltz) • STAFF ORIGINATOR: MEETING DATE: TOPIC: VOTE REQUIRED: BACKGROUND: AGENDA ITEM 1 D Julie Bartell, City Clerk June 23, 2008 Consider Adoption of Resolution No. 08 -64, Approving renewal of a Premises Permit for the Lino Lake Lions to conduct charitable gambling at American Legion Post #566 Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required) An application for renewal of a lawful gambling Premises Permit has been submitted by Richard Schumacher of the Lino Lake Lions. The application requests that the Lino Lake Lions organization be permitted to continue to conduct charitable gambling at American Legion Post #566 located at 7731 Lake Drive. The renewal period for a Premises Permit is two years, per state guidelines. The city has conducted a background investigation relative to this application and found no information on the principal applicants that would give reason to deny the application. Minnesota Lawful Gambling law requires that the local unit of government approve applications for premises permit before they are submitted to the Gambling Control Board for final consideration. Therefore, the City Council is being asked to consider approval of a resolution approving the application submitted by the Lions. OPTIONS: 1.
