Council MemberRafferty introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
COUNTY OF ANOKA
CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION NO. 11 -47
AUTHORIZING A SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT FOR A BENEFIT AT
AMERICAN LEGION POST 566
WHEREAS, Mr. Jeff Johnson representing St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Lino
Lakes Lions Club, has submitted an application for a special event permit; and
WHEREAS, the event is planned for May 7, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at
American Legion Post 566 located at 7731 Lake Drive and includes a spaghetti
dinner, silent auction and karaoke; and
WHEREAS, the applicant has submitted a plan to provide for adequate parking and
parking supervision for the event; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has approved the application and event plans
with certain recommendations; and
• WHEREAS, proof of general liability insurance has been verified by the manager of
the American Legion;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by The City Council of The City of Lino Lakes:
That the City Council authorizes issuance of a Special Event Permit to Jeff Johnson,
for a special event on May 7, 2011, at American Legion Post 566.
Approved by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 25th day of April,
2011.

Consider Resolution No. 11 -47, Authorizing
issuance of a special event permit for a benefit
event at American Legion Post 566
Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required)
The city has received a special event permit application from Jeff Johnson
representing St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Lino Lakes Lions Club. Mr.
Johnson is planning a benefit for Ms. Kellie Hanson to raise funds to help cover
her hospital costs. The plans include a spaghetti dinner, silent auction and
karaoke all taking place at American Legion Post 566 at 7731 Lake Drive, on
May 7, 2011 between the hours of 3:00 and 9:00 p.m.
City staff, including the police department, has reviewed the special event plans
to ensure that they are within city regulations and public safety concerns are met.
Since parking has sometimes been a concern for events at the Legion, the
applicant has submitted a parking plan that includes designated areas of parking
as well as attendants who will direct parking.
Therefore, staff is presenting for city council consideration a resolution
authorizing the issuance of a special event permit to Mr. Jeff Johnson.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve Resolution No. 11 -47 authorizing issuance of a special event
permit to Mr. Jeff Johnson for benefit event at American Legion Post
566 on May 7, 2011.
