HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-017 Council ResolutionCity Council JPA Anoka County February 28, 2005 • CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 05 -17 RESOLUTION APPROVING JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH COUNTY OF ANOKA FOR THE I -35E CORRIDOR AUAR WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.59, authorizes political subdivisions to enter into Joint Powers Agreements, and WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes and the County of Anoka desire to work together in addressing transportation issues within the context of an Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR) for the I -35E Corridor; and WHEREAS, the City and County agree that it is in their best interest that the cost of transportation issues of said AUAR be shared; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: 1. that the City Council hereby approves the Joint Powers Agreement with the County of Anoka for the I -35E Corridor AUAR and authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute said Agreement on behalf of the city. B� geson, Mayor • STAFF ORIGINATOR: CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: TOPIC: ACTION REQUIRED: BACKGROUND AGENDA ITEM 6F Michael Grochala February 28, 2005 Consideration of Resolution No. 05 -17 Approving Joint Powers Agreement with Anoka County for the I -35E Corridor AUAR Simple Majority In October of 2004 the City Council authorized the commencement of the I -35E Corridor AUAR. Recognizing the importance of addressing growing transportation needs, within the study area, Anoka County agreed to participate financially in the transportation component of the study. The attached Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) provides for county cost sharing of the transportation element in the amount of $45,000 , representing 50% of the estimated cost. • RECOMMENDATION Staff is recommending approval of the JPA with Anoka County.
