HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-035 Council Resolution• CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO 05 -35 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE BIRCH STREET TRAIL PROJECT. WHEREAS, City Staff is requesting City Council approval to prepare plans and specifications for the Birch Street Trail Project; WHEREAS, This trail project was approved by the City Council as part of the Park Board's 2004 Goals; WHEREAS, The project is located along the north side of Birch Street, from Black Duck Drive to Pheasant Hills Drive; WHEREAS, it is proposed to finance the project from the Dedicated Parks Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: The City Engineer is designated as the engineer for this improvement and he is directed to prepare plans and specifications for the Birch Street Trail Project. Berg on, ayor • STAFF ORIGINATOR: COUNCIL MEETING DATE: TOPIC: VOTE REQUIRED: AGENDA ITEM 5A Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director March 14, 2005 Resolution No. 05 -35, Authorizing Preparation of Plans and Specifications for Birch Street Trail Project Simple Majority BACKGROUND: City Staff is requesting City Council approval to prepare plans and specifications for the Birch Street Trail Project. This trail project was approved by the City Council as part of the Park Board's 2004 Goals. The project is located along the north side of Birch Street, from Black Duck Drive to Pheasant Hills Drive. This much anticipated project has been under consideration for several years and will be a tremendous asset for our residents. For example, residents in the Quail Ridge subdivision will finally have the opportunity to enjoy the parks and trails system. From a safety perspective, this will provide an alternative for pedestrians/bicyclists who regularly utilize the narrow shoulders along Birch Street. Funding will come from the Dedicated Parks Fund. The schedule for this project is as follows: City Council Authorizes Plans and Specifications City Council Approves Plans and Specifications City Council Authorizes Ad for Bids Open Bids City Council Awards Contract Construction Begins March 14, 2005 March 28, 2005 March 28, 2005 May, 2005 May, 2005 Summer, 2005 OPTIONS: 1. Adopt Resolution Number 05 -35, authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications for the Birch Street Trail Project. 2. Do not adopt Resolution Number 05 -35. 3. Return to staff for further review. RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 1.
