CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION NO. 05 -71
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT FOR THE BIRCH STREET TRAIL PROJECT
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of Birch Street Trail
Project, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were
received complying with the advertisement:

Magnum Co. $211,287.25
Jay Bros, Inc. $211,626.75
Universal Enterprises of Mid MN, Inc. $225,231.20
North Valley, Inc. $233,126.40
Engineer's Estimate $220,155.00
AND WHEREAS, it appears that Central Landscaping, Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO
LAKES, MINNESOTA:
1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with
Central Landscaping, Inc., in the name of the City of Lino Lakes for the construction of the
Birch Street Trail Project according to the plans and specifications approved by the City
Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the
deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next
lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 13th day of June, 2005.

VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND:
Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 10:00 am on June 2, 2005.
The results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is
required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder.

Engineer's Estimate

The low bid is approximately 13% under the Engineer's Estimate for this project.
A copy of the complete bid tabulation is attached.
The expected completion date for this project is October 1, 2005. Funding for
this project is the Dedicated Parks Fund.
OPTIONS:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 05 -71, Accepting Bids and Award a Construction
Contract to Central Landscaping, Inc. for the Birch Street Trail Project.
2. Do not adopt Resolution No. 05 -71.
3. Return to staff for further review.
