CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO 05 -72 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM LINO LAKES STATE BANK AND TARGET FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF THE LINO LAKES PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT'S ANNUAL KITE DAY WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department is held this annual event on Saturday, June 4, 2005; and WHEREAS, This annual event is a free event for families of Lino Lakes; and WHEREAS, Participants receive a free kite, the opportunity to fly their kite, and the opportunity to meet some of our summer staff and learn about summer programs; and WHEREAS, The following organizations were made aware of the desire of the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department to conduct Kite Day with support of sponsors and has donated the following to the City to defer the costs of this event: Lino Lakes State Bank $100.00 Target 70 cases of Archer Farms water 27 boxes of Archer Farms chips 51 boxes of Archer Farms granola bars NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes hereby accepts the donations to help fund Kite Day and wishes to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Lino Lakes State Bank and Target for their donations. Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 13th day of June, 2005. Ann Blair( ity Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member CO-1 I s- and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: The following voted against same: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. -32- • • AGENDA ITEM 5C STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director COUNCIL MEETING DATE: June 13, 2005 TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution No. 05 -72, Accepting Donations for Kite Day VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority BACKGROUND: The Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department sought program sponsors for its annual Kite Day event that was held on Saturday, June 4, 2005. Since its start, over eight years ago, over two thousand free kites have been distributed to the individuals that have attended this event. The event is a free event for families of Lino Lakes and consists of a morning of kite flying fun. Other event attractions include an opportunity for attendees to meet some of our summer program staff and learn about some of our summer program offerings. The following organizations have generously donated funds and food to help defer the costs of this event: Lino Lakes State Bank Target $100.00 70 cases of Archer Farms water 27 boxes of Archer Farms chips 51 boxes of Archer Farms granola bars Please find attached Resolution No. 05 -72 for your consideration.
