HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-092 Council Resolution• • • CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 05 -92 MAIN STREET NO PARKING RESTRICTION S.A.P. 210 - 020 -02 Main Street (Anoka County #14) from I -35E to Elmcrest Avenue Lino Lakes , Minnesota. in the City of WHEREAS, THIS RESOLUTION was passed this 11th day of July , 20 05 , by the City of Lino Lakes in Anoka Municipal corporation shall hereinafter be called the "City ", WITNESSETH: County, Minnesota. The WHEREAS, The "City ", has planned the improvements of Main Street State Aid Route No. 210 - 020 -02 Elmcrest Avenue Minnesota; and from I -35E to in the City of Lino Lakes WHEREAS, the "City" will be expending Municipal Street Aid Funds on the improvements of this Street; and WHEREAS, this improvement does not provide adequate width for parking on both sides of the street; and approval of the proposed construction as a Municipal State Aid project must therefore be conditioned upon certain parking restrictions. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED: That the "City" shall ban the parking of motor vehicles on I -35E to Elmcrest Avenue both sides of Main Street: at all times. Studenski, City Engineer COUNCIL MEETING DATE: July 11, 2005 TOPIC: Resolution No. 05 -92, Designating No Parking on Main Street (CSAH 14) Reconstruction. VOTE REQUIRED: Simple majority BACKGROUND: The No Parking designation area is for Main Street from I -35E to Elmcrest Avenue. State Aid requires a minimum 36 -foot wide street to allow parking on the Main Street Reconstruction project. Currently, parking is mostly non - existent on Main Street. There are no longer any residential homes along this section of the street. Also, State Aid Rules do not allow parking on arterials with speeds that exceed 45 miles per hour. As part of the street reconstruction, State Aid must receive a resolution from the City for a No Parking Restriction on Main Street. A copy of the resolution is attached. OPTIONS: 1. Adopt Resolution 05 -92, Approving No Parking Resolution on Main Street. 2. Return to staff for further review. RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 1 - Staff recommends that Resolution No. 05 -92 be adopted.
