HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-108 Council Resolution• Council Member Reinert introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES COUNTY OF ANOKA RESOLUTION 06 -108 APPROVING ISSUANCE OF AN ANNUAL PERMIT ALLOWING THE SALE OF CONSUMER FIREWORKS AT SUPER TARGET, 749 APOLLO DRIVE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes met at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 26, 2006, and; WHEREAS, the City Council received a report outlining a request from Target Corporation to sell consumer fireworks at the Super Target store at 749 Apollo Drive in the city of Lino Lakes; and WHEREAS, the police department of the City of Lino Lakes has conducted an •investigation of the applicants, and; WHEREAS, the fire marshal has reviewed the application and premises; WHEREAS, the requested site for sales is zoned for general business purpose; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by The City Council of The City of Lino Lakes: That the City Council hereby approves an annual Fireworks Permit for Target Corporation, Super Target Store at 749 Apollo Drive. ATTEST: Tu nne Bartell, it erk • Jeff O'Donnell, Acting Mayor • • • AGENDA ITEM 1J STAFF ORIGINATOR: Julie Bartell, City Clerk MEETING DATE: June 26, 2006 TOPIC: Resolution No 06 -108, Approving an Annual Fireworks Permit for Super Target VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 BACKGROUND The City has received an application from Target Corporation requesting a permit to sell fireworks at their Super Target facility located at 749 Apollo Drive. With the permit application, the City has received verification of the required liability insurance. In turn, the applicant has been provided with a copy of the City's regulations concerning the sale, possession and use of consumer fireworks (City Ordinance No. 06 -02), as well as a copy of the State's regulations including information on what can be sold. The application has been reviewed by both the fire marshal and the police department and they have indicated no reason to deny the permit request. In addition, the fire marshal has visited the site to ensure that fire regulations will be met. OPTIONS: 1. Approve Resolution No. 06 -108 authorizing issuance of an annual permit for the sale of consumer fireworks to Target Corporation for the Super Target store at 749 Apollo Drive. 2. Deny Resolution 06 -108.
