RESOLUTION NO. 13-85
410 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT,
2013 MILL AND OVERLAY IMPROVEMENT

WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of the 2013 Mill and
Overlay Improvements, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the
following bids were received complying with the advertisement:
Contractor Amount of bid
FPI Paving Contractors, Inc. $346,023.00
North Metro Asphalt & Contracting $298,805.00
North Valley, Inc. $333,606.32
Rum River Contracting $288,687.24
Engineer's Estimate $349,900.00
AND WHEREAS, it appears that Rum River Contracting is the lowest responsible bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes:
1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Rum
River Contracting, in the name of the City of Lino Lakes for the construction of the 2013
Mill and Overlay Improvements according to the plans and specifications approved by the
City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidder the Bid
Bonds made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next
two lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 2 2 day of July , 2013.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was introduced by Council Member
StopGz and was duly seconded by Council Member O' Donnell and upon
vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof:
Stoesz, O'Donnell, Rafferty, Roeser, Reinert
The following voted against same:

BACKGROUND
Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 10:00 a.m. on July 17, 2013. The results of the
bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award a construction contract
to the lowest responsible bidder.

Engineer's Estimate $349,900.00
The low bids are competitive bids for this project. A copy of the complete bid tabulation is
attached. The final completion date for this project is September 15, 2013.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends adoption of Resolution 13 -85 Accepting Bids and Awarding a Construction
Contract for the 2013 Mill and Overlay Improvement.
