COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 25, 1988
A work session of the Lino Lakes City Council with the
Economic Development Committee was called to order on
January 25, 1988 at 6:10 P.M. by Mayor Benson. Council
Members present: Marier, Bisel, Bohjanen, Reinert.
Economic Development. Committee members present: Gary Uhde,
Warren Tester and John Bergeson. Mr. Schumacher, City
Administrator and Clerk- Treasurer, Marilyn Anderson were
also present.
Mr. Schumacher explained the purpose of this work session is
to update the City Council as to what the Economic
Development Committee has accomplished, where it plans to go
in the near future, and give the Council an opportunity to
ask questions and interact with the Economic Development
Committee.
Mr. Schumacher continued to explain that the Committee has
developed a plan to follow and has authorized a consultant
to assist in this process. The Committee will deal with the
issue of marketing after the plan, the document and the
procedures are all put together. The Committee expects
everything to be completed and to the Council by March.
Mr. Schumacher introduced Mr. Pat Pelstring of Business
Development Advisors and two of his associates. Mr.
Pelstring explained the background of his business and his
background as well as his two associates background. He
explained that his firm can assist the Economic Development
Committee in providing comprehensive financial and
management services to businesses interested in locating in
Lino Lakes. A sample video was shown to the Council as a
means of further explaining what tools are available in
their services.
Mr. Pelstring explained their services have been well
received in a number of communities including Vadnais
Heights and Oakdale. He explained how they target companies
for location in a particular community and explained that
they offer a variety of programs depending upon the needs of
that city. He also gave a brief review of their track
record.
After further discussion Mr. Schumacher told the Council
that the Economic Development Committee will keep the
Council updated on their progress and the Council should
expect the next report to be in March.
