CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION NO. 04 - 03
• RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM AREA BUSINESSES TO FUND
INITIAL EXPENSES IN ESTABLISHING A CANINE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, a police dog provides protection for officers and the
public; and
WHEREAS, a police dog can be used in search and apprehension
work for intruders, prowlers, escapees, burglars, etc.
and to use in track work to locate missing persons; and
WHEREAS, a police dog can be used to assist in restoring peace
and order at riots, major disturbances, crime scenes,
accident scenes, etc.; and
WHEREAS, a police dog can be used in the detection of controlled
substances/explosive devices,
110 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT-RESOLVED, the Lino Lakes City Council
members, do hereby accept the $$22,375.00 in donations to
establish a Lino Lakes Police Department canine program and
wishes t!o_express its gratitude to the •usiness community for
their donations.

seconded by Council Member and upon vote being

Consideration of Resolution No 04 - 03
Accepting Donations from area businesses
to fund initial expenses in establishing
a canine program,
Simple Majority
Area businesses promote good will and safety throughout the
community and agree that a canine unit would assist in the
- areas of prevention, detection, multi- tasking, tracking,
apprehension, and finding narcotics. The business community
further realizes the increased risks faced by police •
departments and the need for a greater push to use other
means -to assist in the protection and service to the -
community.
The purpose of Resolution 04 -03 is to accept and publicly
thank the area businesses for their generous donations to
the City of Lino Lakes. (See complete- listing of donations
attached)
OPTIONS
1. Adopt Resolution No. 04 - 03 accepting the donations.
2. Return the Resolution to staff for further.information.
