RESOLUTION NO. 04 -21
RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD GOALS FOR 2004
WHEREAS, , The City of Lino Lakes has an established Environmental Board,
AND WHEREAS, ; The purpose of the Environmental Board is to provide aid and advice
to the council in its efforts to encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between
people and their environment ; to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage
to the environment and stimulate the health and welfare of people; to enrich the
understanding of ecological systems and natural resources important to the city; to
advise the City in the use and management of its natural resources in order to preserve
and enhance the environmental amenities for present and future residents, and to
ensure a lasting quality of life within the city,
AND WHEREAS,; The Environmental Board approved the following 2004 goals at their
December, 2003 meeting:
1. Continue to work with landowners, developers and all stakeholders and agencies to
buffer and protect the wetland area behind Lino Lakes Elementary School.
2. Expand the Wildland urban Interface project to work with Centennial Fire District in
implementing the Fire Wise program starting with Pine Vista subdivision.
3. Work with Lino Lakes Park Board in the planning of a new open space and trails
plan.
4. Petition to have the sunset clause removed from the Peltier Lake slow, no -wake
ordinance, and continue to monitor the Heron Rookery and the Northern 1/3 of the
lake.
5. Promote and "showcase" (example: Legacy at Woods Edge) the use of native
plantings in formal and informal settings.
6. Promote public education and provide handouts on such subjects as invasive, non-
invasive species, where to buy native plants, environmental landscaping,
composting, organic gardening, promoting and protecting wildlife habitat.
7. Pursue having Lino Lakes certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat through the
National Wildlife Federation.
8. Partner with local Master Gardeners for a series of public education seminars.

10. Make contact with similar boards from other cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA:
1. That the 2004 goals of the Lino Lakes Environmental Board be adopted.
Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 9th day of February 2004.

TOPIC: Environmental Board Goals
BACKGROUND:
The Environmental Board annually sets goals as a part of their work program.
The Board is requesting the City Council acceptance of their goals for 2004. The
Board at their December meeting adopted the following goals:
1. Continue to work with landowners, developers and all stakeholders and agencies to
