HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-035 Council ResolutionCOUNTY OF ANOKA CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 04-35 PREMISES PERMIT RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR VFW POST 6583, 7868 LAKE DRIVE, LINO LAKES, MN WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes City Council met at its regularly scheduled meeting of March 8, 2004; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Gambling Control Board requires organizations to notify the city council at the time of application; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Gambling Control Board requires organizations to submit a resolution from the city council approving the premises permit; and WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes has conducted a background investigation; and WHEREAS, the VFW Post 6583 is in compliance with City Ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lino Lakes City Council hereby approves the renewal premises permit application for VFW Post 6583 to conduct lawful gambling at 7868 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes, Minnesota. Approved by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 8t day of March, 2004. AGENDA ITEM 1B STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jean Viger, Deputy Clerk MEETING DATE: March 8, 2004 TOPIC: Resolution 04 -35, Approving Premises Permit Application, VFW Post 6583 VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority (3/5 Vote) BACKGROUND: The VFW Post 6583 is in the process of renewing its gambling license, which is due to expire on April 30, 2004. The MN Gambling Control Board requires organizations to notify the appropriate local authority at the time of application. According to Minnesota Statute 349.213, Subd. 2, the gambling control board may not issue or renew a premises permit unless the organization submits a resolution from the city council approving the premises permit. The Lino Lakes Police Department has conducted a background investigation of the gambling manager and has found no reason to deny approval of the resolution. A copy of the notification and a copy of the background investigation is on file in the City Clerk's office. OPTIONS: 1. Approve Resolution 04 -35 2. Deny Resolution 04 -35 RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 1
