CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION NO. 04 - 60
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - 2004
STREET SEAL COAT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of 2004 Street
Seal Coat project, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the
following bids were received complying with the advertisement:

Allied Blacktop $ 63,163.80
Pearson Bros., Inc $ 63,965.88
Caldwell Asphalt Co., Inc. $ 86,190.18
Engineer's Estimate $ 73,380.00
AND WHEREAS, it appears that Allied Blacktop is the lowest responsible bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA:
1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract
with Allied Blacktop, in the name of the City of Lino Lakes for the construction of the
2004 Street Seal Coat project according to the plans and specifications approved by
the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the
deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and
the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 10th day of May, 2004.

Construction Contract, 2004 Street Seal Coat Project
Vote Required: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND:
Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 10:30 a.m. on April 29, 2004.
The results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is
required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder.

Allied Blacktop $ 63,163.80
Pearson Bros., Inc $ 63,965.88
Caldwell Asphalt Co., Inc. $ 86,190.18
Engineer's Estimate $ 73,380.00
The low bid is approximately 14% under the Engineer's Estimate for this project.
A copy of the complete bid tabulation is attached.
The final completion date for this project is August 30, 2004.
OPTIONS:
1. Return to staff for further review.
2. Adopt Resolution Number 04 - 60, Accepting Bids and Awarding a
Construction Contract to Allied Blacktop for the 2004 Street Seal Coat
project.
3. Not adopt Resolution Number 04 - 60
RECOMMENDATION:
Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 04 - 60 be adopted.
