HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-127 Council Resolution• CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 04 -127 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT — 2004 SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT PROJECT. WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construction of the 2004 Surface Water Management Project, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Contractor Amount of Bid Jay Bros., Inc. $112,725.00 Penn Contracting, Inc. $158,804.50 Engineer's Estimate $159,490.00 AND WHEREAS, it appears that Jay Bros., Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: 1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Jay Bros., Inc., in the name of the City of Lino Lakes for the construction of the 2004 Surface Water Management Project according to the plans and specifications approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. • 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed. The results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. Contractor Amount of Bid Jay Bros., Inc. $112,725.00 Penn Contracting, Inc. $158,804.50 Engineer's Estimate $159,490.00 The low bid is approximately 29% under the Engineer's Estimate for this project. A copy • of the complete bid tabulation is attached. The substantial completion date for this project is November 15, 2004, with a final completion date of June 1, 2005. OPTIONS: 1. Return to staff for further review. 2. Adopt Resolution Number 04 -127, Accepting Bids and Awarding a Construction Contract to Jay Bros., Inc. for the 2004 Surface Water Management Project. 3. Not adopt Resolution No. 04 -127.
