HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-130 Council Resolution• • • Council Member %0-0 introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 04 - 130 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM AREA BUSINESSES TO FUND ONGOING EXPENSES TO MAINTAIN THE CANINE PROGRAM WHEREAS, area businesses continue to recognize the need to retain the canine program; WHEREAS, the canine provides protection for officers and the public; and WHEREAS, the community has a vested interest in the canine program, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Lino Lakes City Council members, do hereby accept the $ 5,070.00 in donations to maintain the Lino Lakes Police Department canine program and wishes to express its gratitude to the business •mmunity for their donations. Pecchia, Public Safety Director /Chief of Police DATE September 13, 2004 TOPIC VOTE REQUIRED BACKGROUND Consideration of Resolution No 04 - 130 Accepting Donations from area businesses to fund maintain the canine program. Simple Majority Area businesses promote good will and safety throughout the community and agree that a canine unit would assist in the areas of prevention, detection, multi - tasking, tracking, apprehension, and finding narcotics. The business community further realizes the increased risks faced by police departments and the need for a greater push to use other means to assist in the protection and service to the community. The purpose of Resolution 04 -130 is to accept and publicly thank the area businesses for their generous donations to the City of Lino Lakes. (See complete listing of donations attached) OPTIONS 1. Adopt Resolution No. 04 - 130 accepting the donations. 2. Return the Resolution to staff for further information.
