RESOLUTION NO. 03-36
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
FOR THE 2003 SEALCOAT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared plans and specifications for 2003 Sealcoating
Project and has presented such plans and specifications to the council for approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO
LAKES, MINNESOTA:
1. The City Engineer is designated as the engineer for this improvement and he is directed to
prepare plans and specifications for the 2003 Sealcoat project.

TOPIC: Resolution No. 03 - 36, Authorizing Preparation of Plans and
Specifications for 2003 Sealcoat Project
Vote Required: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND:
Each year the City maintains its streets by sealcoating. Sealcoating places a
thin layer of oil and rock on the street to enhance the surface. Candidate streets
include new streets that received the wear course 2 - 3 years ago and all other
streets are done on a 5 - 7 year cycle. This year, approximately 5 miles of
streets will be sealcoated at an estimated cost of $72,000. The 2003 budget
includes $58,800 for sealcoating. The difference between the annual City
budget amount and the total bid amount would be funded from the City's
Sealcoat fund as this reflects the cost of the first time sealing of new roadways.
OPTIONS:
1. Return to staff for further review.
2. Adopt Resolution Number 03 - 36, authorizing the preparation of plans and
specifications for the 2003 Sealcoat project.
3. Not adopt Resolution Number 03 - 36
RECOMMENDATION:
Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution Number 03 - 36 be adopted.
