WHEREAS, pursuant to a request for quotes for the construction of the Ditch/Pond project, Quotes were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following quotes were received complying with the request: Contractor Amount of Bid Amt Construction Company $17,240.00 C.W. Houle, Inc. No Bid Glen Rehbein Excavating No Bid Ro -So Contracting, Inc. No Bid W.B. Miller, Inc. No Bid AND WHEREAS, it appears that Acpy Corisfiru an ompany is the lowest responsible bidder; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: 1. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Amt tVnItrticiroit Corx panj , in the name of the City of Lino Lakes for the Ditch /Pond Cleaning Restoration according to the plans and specifications approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed. Studenski, City Engineer COUNCIL MEETING DATE: June 9, 2003 TOPIC: Resolution No. 03 -82, Receive Quotes and Award Contract, Ditch /Pond Cleaning Restoration Project VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required BACKGROUND: Quotes were received and publicly opened on June 3, 2003. The results of the quotes are presented below. City Council action is required to award a contract to the lowest responsible bidder. Contractor Amount of Bid Arnt~Constru o ©mp n . inc. 7,244 Q ij erlr, Engineer's Estimate Attached is a copy of the submitted quote. $18,700.00 This project will perform the necessary restoration work as part of the Surface Water Management Projects. Additional excavation quantities did not allow for the restoration to be completed as part of the original project. The funding for this work is provided by the Surface Water Management Fund. This fund was established in 1992 as a revenue source in order to meet the "administrative, planning, ponding, mitigation, and water quality needs" of the City. It is, reimbursed through assessments to new subdivisions and is also collected as property owners connect to City utilities. OPTIONS: 1. Return to staff for further review. 2. Adopt Resolution Number 03 -82, accepting quotes and awarding a contract to i4 ..t� Constru ti`or Cornpan ?, for the Ditch /Pond Cleaning Restoration project. 3. Not adopt Resolution No. 03 -82. RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 2 - Staff recommends adoption of Resolution Number 03 -82.
