HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001-054 Council Resolution• Council Member adoption. • • Dahl introduced the following resolution and moved its CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 01-54 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM THE LINO LAKES LIONS CLUB AND MOUNTAIN ENTERPRISES FOR KITE DAY WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Lions Club and Mountain Enterprises supports the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department; and WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department is holding its sixth annual Kite Day on June 2, 2001; and WHEREAS, the event is free to the families of Lino Lakes; and WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Lions Club and Mountain Enterprises were made aware of the event and the desire of the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department to conduct Kite Day with the support of program sponsors; and WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes Lions Club has donated $300.00 and Mountain Enterprises has donated $250.00 to defer the cost of this event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes, the Council accepts the Lino Lakes Lions Club donation of $300.00 and the Mountain Enterprises donation of $250.00 to help finance Kite Day and wishes to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation for the donations. Adopted by the Lino Lakes City Council this 23rd day of April, 2001. AGENDA ITEM NO. 6A STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director DATE: April 23, 2001 TOPIC: Resolution 01 -54, Consideration of Accepting Donations From Lino Lakes Lions Club and Mountain Enterprises for Kite Day VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority BACKGROUND: The Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department will be holding its sixth annual Kite Day event on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Rice Lake Elementary School. This event is free to area children. Last year, approximately 300 kites were distributed. It is great fun to see the children and their families assemble the kites and fly them. The Lino Lakes Lions Club, as a program sponsor, has donated $300 to help defer the cost of this event. Also, Mountain Enterprises, as a program sponsor, has donated $250 to help defer the costs of this event. Both organizations have been supporters of this special event for several years. OPTIONS: 1. Approve Resolution 01 -54, accepting donations from Lino Lakes Lions Club and Mountain Enterprises for Kite Day. 2. Do not approve Resolution 01 -54.
