HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/25/1963 Council MinutesMeeting of the Council of Lino Lakes February 25, 1963 Members present as follows: Mayor Kelling; Trustee's; Backlin, Speiser, Heck - enliable, Clerk Hauer. Minutes of the preceding meeting were read and on motion by Speiser, seconded by Backlin, they be accepted as read. All voted in favor. Attorney Babcock, reported on the Lawrence Murphy ease. Clerk Hauer sent the following letter by registered mail to constitute notice of the suspension of his licence. The letter reads as follows: At a regular meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, the following resolution was made, seconded and unanimously approved by the council: WHEREAS, L.D. Murphy and Larien Waldon, his waitress, at the Apple Inn, have been convicted of permitting sale of beer to minors and selling beer to minors respectively and whereas L. D. Murphy is pre- sently holder of a license from the Village of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, to sell non-intoxicating malt liquor on said premises with dancing privileges, IT IS RESOLVED: That the license of said L. D. Murphy at the Apple Inn in the Village of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, to sell non - intoxicating malt liquor shall be suspended between 12:01 A. M., Friday, March 8, 1963, until mid- night on Sunday, March 17, 1963. Emily Rehbein, treasurer, reported the balance in the Village treasury to be $5,305.01, as of January 31, 1963. Receipts of cigarette and liquor tax revenues as follows: $2,282.42 cigarette tax and $1,374.11 liquor tax. Motion by Kelling, second by Eeckenliable, for the building inspector and village engineer to assign proper house numbers on Main Street. All voted in favor. Mr. Backlin, reported on his meeting with the village engineer and the Circle Pines Utilities Commission, regarding repairs to village streets, damaged by utilities installation. Motion by Backlin, second by Speiser, that $647.49, would be accettable for damages. All voted in favor. Mr. Speiser, reported there is no one to donate labor for cleaning brush from Village Parks. Motion by Speiser, second by Backlin, to spend up to $150.00, for cleaning up the park property. All voted in favor. Motion by Speiser, second by Kelling: WHEREAS the continued occupancy of Lena Billik of the present dwelling house on the Village park property will be of benefit to the Village in that her presence on the property tends to prevent vandalism and destruction of village property, provides the presence of an adult on playground premises and lends assistance to park operations with respect to turning on flood lights, maintenance of the Skating rink etc, It is resolved that Lena Billik be allowed to continue to occupy said residence and that a yard light and electric power connection to the dwelling house be erected at village expense and that the village pay the reasonable costs of the electricity consumed. All voted in favor. Mr. Heckenliable, reported there would be a special meeting of the Planning Com mission on Wednesday February 27, 1963, and invited all village residents to attend. He presented the council with correspondence from the Forest Lake School Board. Also, that he checked with Dr. Moran of New Brighton, on his position as Village Health Officer. Ken Rehbein, stated the homes in the Rehbein Plat will be in the range of $14,000 and $15,000.00, with the square footage from 900 to 1200 feet, well over the village code minimum. Village Engineer, Carley, presented and discussed plans for the parks. Mayor Kelling, suggested that Mr. Speiset and the Park Board meet with the Engineer to bring a recommendation to the Council on this matter. Mayor gelling, reported he had asked the former Village Clerk, Henry Rosengren, to serve as a one memher Chamber of Commerce, to meet with business men and en- courage new business in our village.
