HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/24/1965 Council Minutes9 Lino Lakes Council meeting of May 24, 1965, was called to order at 8:00 p.m. All members present. On motion by Backlin, second by Speiser, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Mr. Anderson reported that at a special meeting earlier this evening, Mr. Krech had been interviewed by the Planning Commission on his peti- tion for change in location of his riding stable. Mr. Krech did not have the necessary signed pd:.ition from the adjoining neighbors,and Mr. Anderson accordingly motioned the hearing to be continued to the June 16th Planning & Zoning meeting and completed at the June 28th Council Meeting. Mr. Backlin seconded, and the motion carried. Dick Schultz and Bill Handy with Attorney McCauley were present on the rezoning hearing for the proposed VFW building to be erected in Lino Lakes. After a lengthy discussion both pro and con, Anderson ;motioned we permit the passage of the proposed rezoning under Ordnance 40 -A. Mr. Speiser seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Massey of the Oasis was present and asked about the sale of 3.2 beer on Sunday. Mr. Locher provided the legal interpretation of the State law and local ordinance covering this matter. Mr. LaMotte presented a map showing the area in which he wishes to build a road, and Mr. Domning motioned we have our engineer check the matter by wring to the Water Department, specifying the exact location, and asking their permission to cross the area involved. Mr. Backlin seconded the motion, and the motion carried. 41r. Hammer, 7650 Oak Lane, reported his driveway badly washed out. Mr. Backlin will check within the next week. Jim Husnik reported that East Rondo Lake Road appeared to be in poor condition, and felt that the Columbus Township grader was not doing a very good job for the money it was costing. Mr. Burque again discussed the maintenance of 64th Street entering into County Road #54, stating it needed working over badly. Mr. Backlin moved to have the engineer survey the road down to the right of way, and also stated that a culvert will be placed while this road is being worked on. Mr. Anderson seconded the motion, motion carried. Mr. Locher answered the question raised about 7th Avenue, that it had been maintained to the North line of Section 29, that he could find no easement, by all definitions appeared to be a public road. Mr. Backlin reported he had again found the hall unlocked on two occasions and moved that two new yale locks be installed. Anderson seconded. Motion carried. Mr. Speiser stated that Mrs. Billik had been carrying the insurance on the park buildings, and requested this insurance be changed over and carried by the village. Mr. Anderson reported that the June 2nd meeting of the Planning Com- mission would be on maps only. (Quarter section maps). loo Mrs. Ross, Lino Store, asked about having a sign put up on the intersec- tion of Highway 8 and Main Street, indicating directions and mileages to Anoka, Centerville, Forest Lake etc. Mr. Gottwald reported on his meeting with Mr. Sullivan, the Circle Pines Engineer, on the oversizing of the sewer lines being laid. Following discussion of the matter, Mr. Backlin moved, and Mr. Speiser seconded, that the engineer continue with the study on this matter. On the vote, Anderson no, Speiser, yes, Backlin yes, Zelinka yes, Damning yes. A request by Kenneth Bryant for the Civil Defense to buy Caps was approved. Mr. Domning moved, Mr. Anderson seconded, a resolution that we allow the County to be our agent in the Disaster Relief Program. Motion carried. Anderson moved, Speiser seconded that the following bills be paid: #246 - Gordon's Corner, hardware $ 5.59 247 - Miller,Davis, office supplies 2.75 248 - Moga & Speiser, gas, oil, maintenance 31.13 249 - Centerville Garage, maintenance of equip. 35.08 250 - N.W. Bell Telephone 6.75 251 - Hennepin Blacktopping, rd repair material 8.55 252 - Dr. Gary Good, office call for 1963 for LeVesseur 15.60 253 - Lino Store, gas and oil 62.49 254 - Northern States Power 22.82 255 - Northern States Power and 70.83 Meeting adjourned at 10:50 p.m. Min ut s acce June 14,1965, Clerk Lino Lakes Council Meeting of June 14 was called to order at 8 :15 p.m. All members present. Minutes were presented, correction made on description of property discussed with Mr. Burque from Centerville. Speiser moved, Anderson seconded, that minutes be accepted as read and corrected. Motion carried. Zelinka reported the books for 1964 had been turned over to the Auditor, and the ordinance book was up to date and ready for printing. Backlin informed Mr. Hammer of Oak Lane that a culvert would be put in and his driveway repaired in the next week. Domning reported that he and Mr. Backlin attended a meeting the previous III week with Anoka and Washington County Engineers, and Mr. McCubrey of the Minnesota Highway Dept, concerning a by -pass on Main Street. Final conclusion of this meeting. appeared to be that if the weather held good the State would be able to complete a bridge at the proposed crossing of County Road 14 and 35E and a temporary crossing connected to provide a by -pass.
