HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/13/1967 Council MinutesThe regular meeting of the Village of Lino Lakes was called to order at 8:00 PM March 13, 1967, with all members present. The minutes of the February 27th meeting were read. Motion made by Mr. Rosengren to approve minutes as read. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen Motion passed unanimously. The milutes of the March 2nd special meeting were read. Motion made by Mr. Bohjanen to approve minutes as read. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. Motion passed unanimously. The Clerk read a letter from Columbus Township stating the rate for grader work will be increased April 1, 1967 to $12.00 per hour. Mr. Gotwald that we pay Seconded by A letter was Lino Lakes. felt that this was in order. Mr. Rosengren made a motion the $12.00 per hour rate for work done by Columbus. Mr. Ross. Motion carried unanimously. read from AT&T regarding the tower to be errected in Mr. Locher read the amended Beer Ordinance, Mr. L'Allier reported on meeting he attended in Anoka on March 4th on the Sunday Closing Bill. Mr. L'Allier reported on the revenue bond billpassed by the House. Mr. L'Allier made a motion that Lino Lakes goes on record to ask our legislative representatives to approve this bill. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. 'otion carried unanimously. Mr. L'Allier discussed the Split Liquor Bill and informed the Council that the various municipalities and legislators went on record favoring that bill. Mr. L'Allier reported that a Salvage Yard has sprung up on Sunrise. Mr. Ross said he will turn this over to our Police Dept. Mr. Ross ad Mr. L'Allier stated they were in touch with the Forest Lake School Board regarding property on Hwys 8 & 242 which they wished to secure for a Village Park. Mr. L'Allier reported on the amended Municipal Court Bill. Mr. L'Allier made a motion that we go on record opposing the amended Municipal Court Bill and go on record su porting additional judges for the District Court. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Rosengren reported the fire extinguishersmre serviced and Mr. Ross requested that the Clerk notify :Ir. Ray. A letter was read by Mr. Rosengren from Mr. Joe Michaud about his custom sign post being destroyed by the snow plow and asked for $25.00 to cover. Mr. Ross said the letter should be sent to Mr. Ray, our insurance age t, with a copy of our letter also going to Mr. Michaud. Mr. Rosengren read a petition from residents served by County Road 54 asking for an emergency exit. It was decided to discuss this later on in the meeting. 1 1 1 205- (Cont.) Mr. Rosengren stated several people were interested in buying the Baldvin Lake Trailer Court and improving it. Mr. Locher said a copy of Ord. 0. 39 should be given to the people involved. No names were available. Mr. Locher said they would have to also com-ly with State laws. Mr. Rosengren stated the residents on Maple and Orange Streets want to know the cost for making Maple and Orange Village streets. Mr, Ross stated that an assessment would have to be made against the land owners such as on Twilight Acres. Mr. Rosengren said Dick Shuh stated the price of gravel should remain the same as in 1966. Mr. Bohjanen reported on the Community & Business Development Commission meeting held on March 1st. Mr. Bohjanen stated that several jobs were not filled for the Village and suggested that they be filled. Mr. Bohjanen made motion that Mr. William Blaylock be appointed as liason member from our Village to the Circle Pines Utility Commission. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Motioncarried unanimously. Mr. Bohjanen made motion that Springsted Corp. be appointed as bond consultant for the Village. Mr. Ross stated he felt ur• Locher could do the work cheaper. Mr. Locher stated that the information Springsted would fur Ash for a village brochure was available free in Anoka. Vote was taken as follows: Ayes Mr. Crdi Lai, Mr. Bohjanen and Mr. L1llier. Nays Mr. Rosengren and Mr. Ross. Motion carried. Mr. Cardinal.reported that the P&Z Board would have an open hearing March 15th to consider the AT&T tower. Mr. Ross set a special meeting for the 29th of March at 8:15 PM at the Village Engineer's office on Hwy 96. Mr. Cardinal asked that Mr. ',ocher be present at the P&Z meeting March 15th 1. that his expenses could be billed against AT&T. Mr. Locher re-orted he was checking with Minneapolis for a copy of their Plumbing & Gas Ord. and this will take another two months. At Mr. Rosengren's suggestion, Mr. Locher stated he would try and obtain a copy from the League. Mr. L'Allier stated he visted recently with Ray Johnston and Mr. Johnston stated he would definitely vote against the Metro Bills. Ruth Rector gave a report on the Lino Lakes CD Auxiliary. Mr. Ken Bryant reported on the Lino Lakes CD unit and stated the unit was shaping up nicely. Mr. Ross asked Mr. Bryant to continue on for the Year 1967 as Director of CD. Mr. Bryant said he would. (Cont.) Mr. Rosengren moved to reappoint Mr. Richard Juleen Fire Marshall for the Year 1967. Mr. Ross seconded the motion. Motioncarlied unanimously. Mr. Robert Burman, Our County Commissioner, spoke and told of improvements slated for our Village by the County. Mr. L'Allier made a motion that Mr. Gotwald be given authority to bring the County Road 54 problem to a satisfactory solution. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Ross asked tat at the meeting on County Road 54 Mr. Rosengren be present. Mr, Ross reported that the Police Dept put on 777 miles in February. Bills vere presented. Andy Cardinal made motion to approve bals. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Bohjanen made motion to adjourn at 10:25 PM. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal.
