The regular meeting of the Village of Lino Lakes was called to order at 8:00 PM August
14th, 1967, with all members present.
Minutes of the July 24th meeting read. Motion made by Mr. Bohjanen to accept minutes
as corrected and pay bills as read. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Motion carried.
Minutes of special meeting of July 26th read. Motion made by Mr. L'Allier to accept
minutes as read. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried.
Minutes of special meeting August 7th read. Mr. Cardinal made a motion to accept
minutes as corrected. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. Motion carried. Mr. Ross abstained
from voting because he was on vacation at the time.
For the month of July the police put on 1,452 miles. Mr. Raymond put in 60 hours,
Mr. West 61 hours and Mr. Myhre 72 hours.
Bids were opened to cut grass along the 38 miles of roadways in the Village. Mr.
L'Allier made a motion that the job be awarded to Mr. Robert Lundgren, a Village resi-
dent, providing he furnishes proof of insurance to Mr. Locher. It was stipulated
Mr. Lundgren was awarded the job due to the fact he was the only bidder who was a
Village resident. Mr. R. L. Smith would be the alternate if Mr. Lundgren could not
meet the insurance requirements. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried.
Bid on a carbine rifle for the police force was read. Mr. Bohjanen made a motion the
Village purchase the above mentioned carbine from the Lino Gun Shop for $65.00 and
authorize the police force to purchase three crash helmets for approximately $7.00 per
helmet. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Motion carried.
Mr. L'Allier stated that on Umuneil authority he had offered the Millers $500.00 per
acre for Park property but up to this meeting they have not accepted. Mr. L'Allier
made a motion that the offer to the Millers will be withdrawn as of Sept. 25th. Seconded
by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried.
Mr. L'Allier stated the park equipment was delivered. Mr. Ludwig was asked to go ahead
with the well. Mr. L'Allier discussed the need for a polling place on the east side of
bur Village. Mr. Locher will check further into this.
Fire contracts were discussed. Mr. Bohjanen made a motion that the Lexington and
Centerville Fire Departments get together to discuss a new map for fire coverage in
our Village. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Motion carried.
Mr. L'Allier discussed a fire number system for the rural areas of the Village. Mr.
L'Allier made a motion that a study be made by the P&Z to provide for fire numbers.
Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried.
Mr. Ron Jaworski stated a Mr. Forrest Tagg stated he would donate 5 acres to the Vill &ge
for a Village Dill on the Freeway behind the Methodist Church. The Village could pur-
chase another 5 acres if they so desired for $500.00 per acre. Mr. L'Allier made a
motion that the Council set up a joint meeting with the P&Z, Mr. Tagg and the Village

Engineer to discuss this land for a Village Hall. Mr. Cardinal was designated to set
up the meeting. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Mr. Jaworski stated he felt that prompt
action should be taken. Motion carried.
IIIW. Bohjanen made a motion that Mr. Bob Martin of the Springsted Co. be asked to prepare
a feasibility study of the Village of Lino Lakes to determine limit of indebtedness
which the Village could assume at this time, areas where development would be the great-
est, newer bonds if needed, road study and any other bonding studies which would cost
the Village $250.00; and that if possible Mr. Martin be asked to appear at the ? &Ztmeet-
ing on Wednesday and if he could not make this time he should appear at the next Council
meeting. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Motion carried with Mr. Cardinal, Mr. Bohjanen and
Mr. L'Allier voting for the motion and Mr. Rosengren and Mr. Ross voting against the
motion.
Mr. Bohjanen made a motion that we write the State of Minnesota, the Treatment Center,
Mr. Gary Flakne and others interested in getting something done regarding the intersection
of Hwy 326 and Hwy 8 such as an ark light, a left turn lane and other safety features.
Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Motion carried.
Mr. Rosengren stated Rolling Hills Dr. and Bald Eagle Blvd. were nearly completed. Mr.
Rosengren stated he received a petition from residents on Oak Drive to fix up that
street. He also stated he had a bill for the fence and steel posts for $184.00.
Mr. Gotwald discussed the service road along 35E and he stated the Hwy Dept. was posting
same for speed and warnigg signs, and this in the opinion of the State would cut the
accidents down considerably.
Mr. Locher stated 774 ballots were cast in the 1966 election.
IIIMrs. Olson appeared before the Council regarding their trailer house and the matter was
continued to a later date.
Mr. Ross talked about the trailer court's roads and Mr. Locher stated he would write
another letter to the owners.
Mr. Scherer asked why the Village pickup was not left at the Hall when not used. Mr.
Houle of the Personnel Commission stated that the truck should be left at the Village
Hall. Mr. Ross stated that since this was the wishes of the Council Mr. Backlin should
in the future leave the truck at the Village Hall.
Motion at 10:13 was made by Mr. L'Allier to adjourn. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Motion
carried.

Minutes accepted meeting of August 28, 1967.
Clerk
The regular meeting of the Village of Lino Lakes was called to order at 8:00 PM August III
28, 1967, with all members present.
The minutes of the August 14th meeting were read. Mr. L'Allier made a motion to apprae
the minutes as corrected. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried.
An application for off -sale 3.2 beer license was read. Mr. Rosengren made a motion to
approve the license. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Motion carried.
Mr. L'Allier asked the Clerk to check on any tax - forfeited land in the Village that is
available for a park.
Mr. L'Allier made a motion that the Village direct a letter to Mr. Paul Velz, Road
Design Engineer, John Ireland Blvd., St. Paul, with carbon copy to Mr. McCubrey, District
Engineer, 1246 University Ave., St. Paul, Minn., requesting a copy of the preliminary
sign plan for our perusal, also asking that before the sign plan is finalized that both
35E and 35W be equipped with signs to show the turn offs for Lino Lakes and also the
Village limits. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Motion carried.
Mr. L'Allier made a motion that we install Slow signs on 4th Ave, and that a letter be
directed to the Youth Center asking for the cooperation of all employees not to exceed
speed limits, and while they are named specifically in a complaint we are asking for
cooperation from everyone. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. Motion carried.
Mr. L'Allier made a motion that Mr. Locher be instructed to contact Mr. Gallagher at the
Attorney Generals Office and take necessary steps to set up an additional polling place i
on the east side of the Village. Also as this is not covered in the budget, find out
the cost of it. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Motion carried.
Mr. Bohjanen asked Mr. Gotwald if he heard anything on the Hwy 8 and 326 hazard. Mr.
Gotwald stated at the present time he has heard nothing further.
