ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES
DATE: February 5, 2015

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by Rebecca Glewwe to approve the minutes of December 4, 2014. The motion
passed unanimously.
49/J BLIGHT STUDY
Mr. Grochala provided information regarding a study that has been proposed by the city
evaluating the improvement potential for property located at the intersection of 49 and County
Road J. Staff has had ongoing discussions with the property owner regarding possible
demolition of the old 49 Club.
The City is proposing to retain the services of LHB Architects to perform a blight study on the
property. The purpose of the study would be to prequalify the property for possible
establishment of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District. Mr. Grochala explained that once the
building is removed we would have up to three years to establish a TIF district. Once established
a project would need to be undertaken within three years or the district would dissolve.
The board recommended moving forward with the blight study.
WEBSITE OVERVIEW
Ms. McDermott provided a general overview of the new city website including information on
the property search function that allows potential businesses or developers to search for available
sites or buildings.
PROJECT UPDATES

Mr. Grochala provided an overview of ongoing projects including updates regarding the new
fire station and upcoming housing developments.
