APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by R. Glewwe to approve the minutes of April 3, 2014. The motion was seconded
by Tami Wier and passed unanimously.
5 YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN DISCUSSION
Kirsten Barsness, of Barsness Consulting provided an overview of the draft Economic
Development Plan. Ms. Barsness noted that of the four areas of opportunity identified in the
plan establishing a Business, Retention and Expansion (BRE) program is the primary goal. It is
also the program that the City has the most control over.
Ms. Barsness discussed next steps which included the development of a project work plan. The
committee discussed advantages to establishing the BRE program and opportunities to improve
communication with area businesses.
PROJECT UPDATES
Mr. Grochala provided an update on the status of existing and proposed development projects.

DISCUSSION TOPIC: Community Profile Brochure
BACKGROUND
Staff has been working on a number of community outreach initiatives including updating the
City website and the development of informational materials. The website project is slowly
coming along but will include a revamped Economic Development page with access to property
listings, demographics and important contacts. Staff is also working with WSB and Associates
on a community profile brochure that will provide a quick look overview of Lino and promote
the 3 “Areas of Opportunity” identified in our economic development plan.
I plan to have a copy of the brochure for committee review and comment at the meeting. I also
plan to review some of the resources available on our web page.
