HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-081 Council ResolutionCITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 14-81 APPOINTING ELECTION JUDGES FOR AUGUST 12, 2014 PRIMARY & NOVEMBER 4, 2014 GENERAL ELECTION WHEREAS, a State Primary Election will be held on August 12, 2014 and a General Election will be held on November 4, 2014; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 204B.21, Subd. 2, election judges and a head election judge for each precinct in a municipality shall be appointed by the governing body of that municipality; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 204B.21. Subd. 1. a list of eligible voters was prepared; and WHEREAS, the following qualified individuals, if appointed, have agreed to serve as election judges; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 204B.25, election judges will receive training from the Anoka County Elections and Voter Registration division; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by The City Council of The City of Lino Lakes that the following named persons are qualified individuals and are hereby appointed to serve as election judges for the 2014 Primary Election and the 201:4General Election: Leanne Petyo; Amy Barron; Lyndell Moberg. Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 28th day of July, 2014. CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 1F STAFF ORIGINATOR: Julie Bartell, City Clerk MEETING DATE: July 28, 2014 TOPIC: Resolution No.14-81, Election Judge Approval VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 INTRODUCTION In 2014 two elections will be conducted in the City of Lino Lakes — the August 12 Primary and November 4 General elections. Election judges are required in order to staff the city's seven voting precincts. BACKGROUND The governing body of a municipality has the authority to appoint qualified applicants to serve as election judges. The City Council approved the appointment of election judges on July 14, 2014 and staff is now forwarding the names of three additional judges that are needed for the August 12 Primary Election. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 14-81, Appointing Additional Election Judges for the 2014 Primary and/or General Election. ATTACHMENTS None
