HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-102 Council ResolutionCITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 14-102 Approving a Liquor and Special Sunday Sales License for Paleos Restaurant for the 2014/2015 licensing period WHEREAS, the liquor licensing period for Paleos Restaurant will begin upon approval and run concurrent with all city' liquor licenses through June 30, 2015; WHEREAS, the City Council is required to approve liquor licenses, in some cases, prior to State issuance of a license; WHEREAS, City staff has reviewed the application that has been submitted and verified that local licensing regulations are met; WHERAS, the Lino Lakes Police Department has conducted the required background investigation for the license renewal; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA: The City of Lino Lakes hereby approves the liquor license for Paleos Restaurant with said approval contingent upon applicant meeting all city and state requirements for said licenses. Adopted by the Council of the City of Lino Lakes this 8th day of September, 2014. Deputy City Clerk September 8, 2014 Resolution No. 14-102, Approving Issuance of an On -Sale and Special Sunday Sales Liquor Licenses for Paleos VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 BACKGROUND John and Elizabeth Pavlick have signed a lease at 566 Lilac Street (former Red Oak site) and applied for an on -sale and special Sunday liquor license for their restaurant Paleos. The liquor license would run through June 30, 2015 along with all liquor licenses in the city. Paleos is the name of the restaurant and is a style of eating. The liquor license requires additional approval by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Alcohol and Gambling Division. Paperwork will be forwarded to the state if local approval is granted. Under city policy, applicants applying for license are required to undergo a background investigation. The Lino Lakes Police Department has performed the background investigation and has reported no information that would make applicants ineligible for license. Paleos is required to submit verification of liquor liability and workers' compensation insurance as well as pay appropriate fees. No license will be released until all requirements are met. The city code requires that when the city council considers the issuance of a liquor license, opportunity shall be given to any person to be heard for or against the granting of the license. RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution 14-102 Approving Issuance of an On -Sale and Special Sunday Sales Liquor Licenses for Paleos for the time of approval through June 30, 2015.
